Conic sections are a major concept in most Algebra 2 courses and in many Precalculus courses as well.  Typically, the instructor uses a lecture style to teach the skills and concepts required to understand conics.  However, current educational theory supports the use of groups and technology to assist students in constructing knowledge.  This unit plan utilizes constructivist techniques and technology to guide students in developing their own understanding of conic sections and their applications, while providing an outline of skills and knowledge students must gain in order to fulfill state content standards requirements.
